Travel FAQS

Different tour types have different minimum traveller requirements. Each itinerary page will clearly indicate the minimum number of travellers needed for that specific tour to operate.

If your group does not meet the minimum number but you would still like to travel, we are happy to arrange a Custom Tour tailored specifically to your preferred dates, group size and interests. Simply contact us with your requirements, and we will create a personalised itinerary for you.

We recommend planning ahead to ensure a smooth experience. For specialist treatments and surgical procedures, it is advisable to plan 3–6 months in advance, allowing sufficient time for medical consultations, hospital appointment scheduling and travel arrangement. For basic health screenings, a shorter planning period of 4–6 weeks is usually sufficient. The standard planning process is: initial consultation → hospital matching → travel arrangement → departure.

  • Carry a basic travel health kit including painkillers, antiseptics, motion sickness remedies, and any personal prescriptions.
  • In Japan, hospitals and clinics accept international visitors; English-speaking services are available in major cities.
  • In China, large hospitals in cities often have international departments, but outside urban areas, English may be limited. Consider travel insurance that covers medical evacuation.
  • Three Bears Travel support: You can contact your guide or our 24/7 customer service team (support@threebearstravel.com.au) anytime for assistance locating medical care or handling emergencies.

For renowned hospitals like Shanghai Ruijin Hospital and Peking Union Medical College Hospital, professional international patient service teams are available to provide English support. For other partner hospitals such as Shanghai Medical University Hospital, Three Bears will assign a dedicated local coordinator and professional medical interpreter to accompany you throughout consultations, treatments and follow-ups, ensuring smooth and accurate communication at all times.

All travellers are limited to bring one suitcase (up to 20kg) and one piece of hand luggage (up to 5kg).
Please refer to the relevant tour page for further details and airline-specific rules.

Besides your visa, it’s recommended to have:

  • Return flight tickets
  • Accommodation information
  • Proof of sufficient funds

Always check official sources before your trip, as regulations may change.

Before joining any of our tours, we encourage travellers to review the itinerary details and assess whether the daily activities suit their personal comfort and fitness level. Each tour page includes information on walking distances, pacing and any physically demanding elements to help you decide.

If you have special requirements, mobility considerations, or prefer a more flexible travel pace, we recommend exploring our Custom Tours. You’re also welcome to speak with our customer service team before booking—our team can suggest the most suitable tour options and help tailor an itinerary that fits your needs.

  • Japan: Typhoon season is June–October. Winter travel may involve heavy snow in northern regions.

  • China: Summer heat and air pollution can affect health in some cities. Stay hydrated, check local weather, and avoid high pollution days.
